Pre-Production: Logistic Aspects (Location Scouting, Location Release)

 To ensure that I had suitable locations to film- I filled out location scouting forms. I researched the best locations for my ideas for this documentary- and took into consideration the pros and cons. After further research of these locations I chose the specific locations for the scenes.



After filling out the location scouting sheets, I had to fill out location release forms. I did this so that I knew if I had permission from the property owners of the locations to film there and use the footage in my final product.

Audience Research

 For this campaign I conducted audience research so that I was certain on who my target audience for this documentary was. This was important as I needed to know who I was making this documentary for- the client- but also who would be watching it- as if the target audience was 26 and above- it would be pointless to create a documentary for an audience under the age of 26. To conduct this research I created a Google Form and sent it out to the people in my class and the members of a group I take part in- and I collated that research into an audience profile- so that it was easier to read the statistics and facts. Once I had collected this research- I collated the information into an audience profile.

Generations Final Cut and Evaluation

 After screening the first cut of my documentary to a small focus group and receiving feedback about what I could change, I began changing those parts of the documentary in editing to finalize the documentary. I shortened the intro of the documentary and changed the fonts of the title screen and credits. I also lowered the volume of the music that was underneath a few of the clips so that it was not too loud. Once I had done this I exported the final cut and uploaded it to YouTube.  I then wrote an evaluation, explaining what I did throughout the project and why. This was so that I could explain my ideas and thoughts throughout the production of this project.

Innovative Technology Research

Different Equipment Phones Over the years of technological advancements- many new ways of filming have been created. We can use our phones to film regular footage- alongside slow motion footage and time lapses. Many present day cameras are unable to film this type of footage without the aid of editing software. Phones were a recent development- especially phones with cameras that could film slow-motion and time lapses. Recently- with newer phones- time lapses and slow motion videos are higher quality- rather than older phones with not much technological capabilities. Many phones now have these capabilities- which makes filming footage easier even if you do not have a camera. Phones recently are much more able to be used as devices to capture footage.
